Perfect Timing

Do you ever feel frustrated when you don't know what's going to happen with your future? Maybe it's with a relationship, or a job, or a major life change? I know this is definitely true for me- especially lately.

You see, I had this plan. A plan to turn my whole life upside down, move to a new city, start a new job, experience some new adventures. And I still have this plan. It's just not happening on my time.

Sometimes it's hard to not feel frustrated with God when we hit these road bumps. Our society is so accustomed to instant gratification and we expect quick answers and results. But that isn't always God's plan for us. When God makes us wait or doesn't give us what we ask for, we need to have faith that it's for a reason and He has something even better in mind. His plan for our lives is perfect and so much more than we can even comprehend! How amazing is that?! Here are a few verses I turn to when I'm struggling with trusting God's plan:

Wait patiently for the Lord. Be brave and courageous. Yes, wait patiently for the Lord. //Psalms 27:14

Always be joyful. Never stop praying. Be thankful in all circumstances, for this is God's will for you who belong to Christ Jesus. //1 Thessalonians 5:16-18

You can make many plans, but the Lord's purpose will prevail. //Proverbs 19:21

Don't worry about anything; instead, pray about everything. Tell God what you need, and thank him for all he has done. Then you will experience God's peace, which exceeds anything we can understand. His peace will guard your hearts and minds as you live in Christ Jesus. //Philippians 4:6-7

So next time you're struggling with this, remember that God's plan for your life will happen in His perfect timing

That's really a Texas Tradition?

People that aren't from Texas tend to respond like that when they first hear of this tradition. They can't believe that we Texans do this for fun. To Texas newbies, it sounds a little bit crazy, even weird.

Curiosity getting the best of you yet? It's floating the river. As is in renting a tube and spending 6-ish hours floating down a river. Let me give you the step-by-step for the best river floating experience!

1. Get together a group of floaters & make a weekend out of it.
The last few summers that I've floated the river have been on girls trips, but any group will do. Just make sure they don't mind lots of sun and fun!

2. Travel to New Braunfels, Texas.
New Braunfels is located in the gorgeous Hill Country of Texas (near Austin). Stop by the multiple outlets malls on the way for a little lot of shopping. Enjoy a night of dinner at the Gristmill and two-stepping at Gruene Hall.

3. Pack supplies.
For the actual floating part of the trip, you'll need a few essentials. Swimsuit, sunscreen, hat, sunglasses and water shoes are a must. (Adult and hydrating) drinks and snacks are highly encouraged. After all, you will be in the Texas heat! Also, you'll need to rent a tube from one of the many rental spots along the Guadalupe River.

4. Sit back and relax!
Most importantly, enjoy yourself! Open up the drinks, get a tan, and have a fun-filled day with your friends!

Now who's ready to plan a trip with me?!

4th of July Festivities

Fourth of July was a fun-filled weekend celebrating this amazing country we live in. Lots of sunshine, the lake, some adult beverages, yummy food and beautiful fireworks!

But most importantly, this weekend was celebrated by being with family. I loved every minute spent with my momma, sister, and cousins. It was much needed family time! No matter how far we are from each other or how long its been since we last saw each other, things are always just right when we are together.

1. Sister & I at the lake
2. Alexa & I waiting on the fireworks
3. Kalie, mon & I
4. Firework show at Lindsey Park in Tyler

The Man of the House

Don't get too excited by the title, there isn't a secret man living with me. I'm just talking about my furbaby.

Meet Oliver

I adopted Oliver 2 years ago, when he was about 8 weeks old and all of 3 pounds! He was dropped off at a shelter a few weeks earlier and then bottle fed by a sweet friend of mine who introduced us; it was love at first sight!

[10 weeks old]

I found out early on how mischevious Oliver was, and that hasn't slowed down to this day. He loves to play and run and jump and climb the walls and furniture and blinds… you get my point. But he sure does keep things lively around here.

And yes, he walks on a leash.

And wears hats for special occasions.

[1st birthday party]

Yea, I think he's pretty awesome!

XOXO,
April (and Oliver)
