That's really a Texas Tradition?

People that aren't from Texas tend to respond like that when they first hear of this tradition. They can't believe that we Texans do this for fun. To Texas newbies, it sounds a little bit crazy, even weird.

Curiosity getting the best of you yet? It's floating the river. As is in renting a tube and spending 6-ish hours floating down a river. Let me give you the step-by-step for the best river floating experience!

1. Get together a group of floaters & make a weekend out of it.
The last few summers that I've floated the river have been on girls trips, but any group will do. Just make sure they don't mind lots of sun and fun!

2. Travel to New Braunfels, Texas.
New Braunfels is located in the gorgeous Hill Country of Texas (near Austin). Stop by the multiple outlets malls on the way for a little lot of shopping. Enjoy a night of dinner at the Gristmill and two-stepping at Gruene Hall.

3. Pack supplies.
For the actual floating part of the trip, you'll need a few essentials. Swimsuit, sunscreen, hat, sunglasses and water shoes are a must. (Adult and hydrating) drinks and snacks are highly encouraged. After all, you will be in the Texas heat! Also, you'll need to rent a tube from one of the many rental spots along the Guadalupe River.

4. Sit back and relax!
Most importantly, enjoy yourself! Open up the drinks, get a tan, and have a fun-filled day with your friends!

Now who's ready to plan a trip with me?!

  1. Believe it or not, I have never been tubing! I need to add this on my to-do list asap, because I couldn't think of anything better than some beer and a river on a sunny day.
